We place a great deal of importance on implementing a supportive and informative transition process for children and families.

One of the ways we do this is through our Kindy programme where children are encouraged to be involved in a range of activities which will support and enhance their social, emotional and academic wellbeing. Other benefits are the development of fine and gross motor skills and concepts needed for pre-reading, writing and numeracy whilst building confidence and familiarity of the school and its community.

During the six months prior to their commencement of Reception; each week children are invited to spend a morning in the Reception classroom with their Reception teacher; to learn and grow together in confidence and skills in the semester prior to starting Reception. This takes place on Wednesday mornings and runs from 9.30am-11.30am for the two terms before starting Reception. All children receive a Little Saints t-shirt to wear each week.

This programme strengthens children’s confidence and minimises stress or concerns about “starting school” as it gives them the confidence to get used to the classroom, teacher and peers in a gentle and gradual way.

At the end of the semester, you will be invited to an ELC Graduation to celebrate the milestone and congratulate your child on starting Reception at our school.
