St Peters is proud to be an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School.

The internationally recognised IB Primary Years Program (PYP) forms a challenging and engaging framework for our curriculum from the Early Learning Centre through to  Year 7.

The PYP is committed to learning through inquiry, which allows the areas of study to be integrated in a ‘transdisciplinary approach’.

Teachers and students are guided by the six transdisciplinary themes:
  1. Who we are;
  2. Where we are in place and time;
  3. How we express ourselves;
  4. How the world works;
  5. How we organise ourselves; and
  6. Sharing the planet.

Students ask questions, locate information, direct their own learning tasks and design the learning programme.

Students are fully engaged as they are free to take their learning in directions that interest them. They learn more meaningfully through open-ended tasks that encourage them to become responsible for their own learning.

The IB Learner Profile allows students to develop as:

  • Inquirers
  • Thinkers
  • Communicators
  • Caring
  • Knowledgeable
  • Balanced
  • Risk-takers
