This year has been busy, fulfilling, exciting and eventful! Today’s edition of the Inside Story is the last for the year, so what better way to end than with a recap that celebrates our year.

The first highlight of the year is always our St Peters Installation Service where Staff and Year 7 leaders are installed. The Receptions received their special gift of God’s word – a new Bible – to learn more about who God is and his love for us. The best gift ever!

Our camping programme in 2018 offered many and varied activities. The students from Reception to Year 7 took part in trips to Canberra, Mylor and a stay up late and sleep over on school grounds. The students experienced a sense of independence, fun, learning and group bonding during these times.

ICAS competitions were offered again with a record number of children participating and challenging their academic pursuits. We hope even more students take up the opportunity in 2019.

The staff took part in two wonderful PD events – Learning Environments and Inquiry. As a result of these workshops the teachers were energised with new ideas and were keen to implement them in the classroom.

Music is fun band continues to delight us annually and this year was no exception! The band proved to the school community that Music really is fun!!

Fingergym in the ELC has been a highlight for the 4 year old children this year! Mrs Mibus and Mrs Fox , our Reception teachers, have been helping the children with their fine motor skills using lots of fun and challenging activities like picking up fluffy pompoms with chopsticks!

Our Mother’s and Father’s Day breakfasts and FUDGE night in the ELC were a hit with Mums, Dads and children alike! With great jokes, activities, photo booths and loads of yummy food – what is there not to like? A great community time and a wonderful start to the day!

Term 3 is musical term and what a fabulous performance it was! The reviews were outstanding and the Year 7 students learnt much about performing, grit, determination and how to overcome nerves!

And the highlight list goes on…Grandparents Day, Wakakirri performances, Bookweek dress up, The Arts showcase, Sports Day, Maths Challenge winners, Southern Metro Music Festival, SAPSASA Champions…and many, many more highlights!

The most significant highlight of the year however, more than events or programmes, is seeing the children in our care growing, learning and loving. There are many times, too numerous to mention, when students finally grasp a concept, solve a long standing social problem or change their thinking. As educators, we see these highlights each and every day and we thank God for the opportunity to work in an amazing school where God and children are at the very centre of what we do.

Everyone at St Peters Lutheran wishes you a wonderful Christmas as we celebrate the birth of Christ with our family and friends.

We look forward to another year of the Inside Story, where we will continue to share the little things about St Peters Lutheran School that make it so special.
