One of the highlights of the school year at St Peters Lutheran is Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day. And this year was no exception!
A crowd of grandparents gathered on Friday 9th June to acknowledge the importance of relationships across generations. At St Peters we celebrate Grandparents as a vital part of our society. Their wisdom and encouragement has a huge impact on the children of all ages across the school.
The programme began with an inspiring Chapel service, with the message encouraging Grandparents and special friends to play an active role in their grandchildren’s lives and urging the children to listen to and spend time with their special friends who have much wisdom and life experience from which they can benefit. This was illustrated with the Bible story of Moses who tried to do it all by himself, but with the help of his father- in- law Jethro, realized he needed to rely on others to assist in leading his people. (Exodus 18:13)
Throughout the morning, Grandparents and students spent time together in classrooms participating in science experiments, reading to each other and sharing their learning. Coding, action based learning, Choir, a Book Stall and a photo booth were all on offer to see, do and enjoy!
The Grandparents and Special Friends were then treated to a beautiful morning tea and a concert showcasing many of the talented students and groups at St Peters Lutheran including the skipping squad, a rendition of “Mr. Clickety Cane” from the youngest members of the school and the whole school singing as a mass choir to end.
The Year 7 leaders did an exceptional job warmly welcoming the Grandparents, giving them directions around the school and showcasing the highlights of what our school has to offer.
“ What a beautiful school you have here. The children are so polite and helpful. A wonderful day!”
“ The singing was exceptional…especially the whole school singing together at the end.”
“ I am already looking forward to next year. Such a lovely day showcasing a wonderful school.”
Thank you to all who came along and made the day a huge success! Until next year…!
